Anaele Ihuoma

Anaele Ihuoma is a winner of Sparrow Poetry Prize (Nigeria) and Goethe Institut Literary Prize. He is currently completing a PhD programme at the Rivers State University, Port Harcourt. He served as Head, Media & Social Responsibility at UBA, and later Relationship Manager, Commercial Banking, Uyo Area. He also served as Managing Director/CEO of Giticom Microfinance Bank before joining the newspaper industry, where he rose from reporter to editor. Later, he became Nigeria Country Representative for Hederick Barlay and Associate.

A fellow of the Ebedi International Writers residency, Ihuoma’s poems and short stories have appeared in Fireflies, The Guardian, Ebedi Review, ANA Review among others. He has served as vice chairman of the Association of Nigerian Authors, Rivers State Branch, as well as its National Auditor. He co-edited Elechi Amadi, Literature and the Nigerian Social-political environment.

Anaele Ihuoma is the author of Imminent River (Narrative Landscape, 2018), which was long-listed for the prestigious Nigeria Prize for Literature in 2021. His other works include The Sea Route to Señorita’s Heart (short story collection), One Day with the Hounds (play), as well as Tongues of Triumph (2003), Song of the Threshing Floor (2006) and Song of the Swallow (2007), all poetry.
